Another Point of View
Orientierungssystem für Frankfurt am Main
Wayfinding System for Frankfurt/Main
Wo will ich hin?
Sophia Muckle.
Entstanden an der HfG Offenbach am Main.
Wayfinding in passing
The project Another Point of View handles about changing perspectives. The wayfinding system supports a new perception of the city as well as a changed mentality of locomotion. In short it assists with sustainable behavior.
The concept assists to move through the city of Frankfurt in an easy, quick and reasonable way. Orientation occurs in passing and intuitively.
Where am I? Where do I want to go? In which way do I want to go there? What´s around me?
Another Point of View helps to estimate vicinity and distances to find different access to the city.
On the one hand the system concentrates and communicates all mobility offers which are currently little well-known. On the other hand it motivates and facilitates to switch over to a movement without car in Frankfurt.
Range of action
The elements of the wayfinding system form a product family consisting of Orientation Point, Vicinity Point and Directional Pointer. The depth of information varies according to the elements.
The product family is based on the idea of the next possible range of action within one can move and act.
Wayfinding system with city-specific appearance
The Orientation Point with integrated touch-screen and software for multimodality is a fixed object at main arrival-points and traffic junctions.
Vicinity Point and Directional Pointer are fitted adaptively to posts or pedestrian crossings.
The Vicinity Point shows information within a 5-minute -walk via a small area map.
The Directional Pointer accompanies on the way through the city. Destinations and walking times in minutes are indicated.
The working out of the design considered perceptive-psychological findings and it was developed suitable for the ambience of Frankfurt. The system integrates itself into cityscape as well as it´s discernible at the same time.
